The UCR business alumnus returns to his alma mater, tours local Fresh & Easy facilities and gives advice to students.

Chris Lam(May 22, 2012)

Chris Lam, president and CEO of Pucci Foods, visited the UC Riverside School of Business Administration on May 22. The visit mirrors a previous visit by Interim Dean Yunzeng Wang to the Pucci Foods storage and processing facilities in Hayward, California on May 17.

During his visit, Lam accompanied UCR business school and Bourns College of Engineering personnel on a tour of grocery store chain Fresh & Easy’s Riverside facilities. They met with campus operations director Mark Lodge, lead recruitment manager Ed Crowe as well as internship recruiter Cynthia Almanza, and learned about the company’s operations.

After the tour, Lam had lunch with MBA students at Anderson Hall, during which he provided advice and learned about the students’ recent accomplishments, including winning second-place honors at the 2012 International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition.

A first-generation college student, Lam is an alumnus of UCR, having graduated in 1991 with a double major in business administration and economics. In 2001, he purchased Joe Pucci and Sons’ Seafood (later renamed to Pucci Foods), a distributor of seafood, meats and specialty foods.

Lam serves on several boards, including the California Fisheries and Seafood Institute, the City of Hayward’s Economic Development Committee and the Advisory Board of the California State University-East Bay. He has also served on the boards of the Eden Hospital Foundation and the Hayward Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Advisory Board of the California State University-San Francisco School of Hospitality.

He was also the keynote speaker at the UCR School of Business Administration commencement ceremony in 2010.

Dean Wang said, “We are proud to call Mr. Lam an alumnus of the UCR business school. We are truly honored by his continuing involvement in his alma mater, and we look forward to more opportunities in the future to further engage with him.”
