This marks the first time graduate students from the UCR business school have been elected to office in the GSA.

(April 30, 2012)

Henry Huang and Lance KimIn the same academic year that marked the first time the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management (AGSM) made the top 100 of U.S. News & World Report's "Best Graduate Schools" rankings, two MBA students have marked another first for the UCR business school.

Henry Huang and Lance Kim have been elected to the Graduate Student Association (GSA) board to serve as president and vice president of academic affairs, respectively.

The UCR business school and its MBA Student Association have never before had representation on the GSA board.

Elections were held April 23-27 online and via polling booths at the Bell Tower.

"It is a great honor to be chosen as the GSA's next VPAA," Kim said. "I look forward to serving all the valued members of the UCR graduate community."

Huang said he is particularly thankful for the support from AGSM.

"I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to the staff, faculty, and most of all students here at AGSM," he said. "This entire journey has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life and I could not have endured the ups and downs without the support of my home base."

Huang also said he is excited about what's to come once he assumes office.

"This achievement really highlights the cohesive and collaborative culture present in our MBA program and is just the beginning of our next leg up," he said. "I look forward to the future and the many good things to come for UCR. But in the meantime, we'll chalk this one up as another triumph for AGSM in what has been an eventful year of firsts."
